Production leader

Are you ready to take the helm and steer the ship towards a greener, more sustainable future? We are looking for a dedicated Production Leader to take charge of our production in Den Bosch.

As a Production Leader at PeelPioneers in Den Bosch, you are the driving force behind our circular production process. Here, you will realize our ambitious short- and long-term goals and ensure that our production process not only runs smoothly but is also future-proof. Your leadership is crucial in ensuring the highest level of reliability and customer satisfaction while keeping costs as low as possible.

As a Production Leader, you will report to the Plant Manager and be responsible for our two production teams, “Open” and “Closed.” The “Open” team consists of one team leader and 12 production workers who work in rotating shifts. The “Closed” team currently comprises 13 individuals working in four shifts, which will be scaled up to five shifts in the new year. Each shift consists of 2-3 team members. In total, you will be responsible for 26 pioneers and two production lines.

Tasks & Responsibilities

You ensure that everything runs smoothly, and we do it with a dash of PeelPioneers magic. Here’s a glimpse of what’s on your plate:

• Captain of Operations: You’re the captain of efficiency in our production process. You optimize, streamline, and take it to the next level.

• Mentor: As the leader of the Process Operators team, you’re their first point of contact. Together, you set the course and navigate through challenging waters. Self-management and self-reliance are your mantras. You believe that independent teams excel, and you’re their advocate. You’re not just a manager but also a mentor. You train and guide your team so they can operate independently and efficiently. Together, you achieve goals.

• Food Protector: Food safety and product quality are your top priorities. You keep a watchful eye on a safe working environment in “Dicht” and “Open” operations. External risks are like red warning lights on the horizon for you. You spot them and are always ready to provide solutions. You are critical of both yourself and the processes. You welcome feedback with open arms and actively work on it.

• Inspiring Leader: With a guiding and coaching leadership style, you’re the captain of an efficient and professional operational organization. You’re the anchor for every member of the operation, listening, advising, and inspiring. You not only train existing staff but also guide new colleagues in production. Knowledge sharing is the key to success.

• Passion for People & the Environment: You have a passion for both people and the environment. You see the value in both and contribute to sustainable growth. Your focus is on forging a cohesive team within the operational units, so they can thrive as never before. Because together, we achieve more.

About PeelPioneers

We are the sustainable peel farmer of the 21st century. Instead of being incinerated into waste, we give orange peels a second life: we extract raw materials from the peel that we process into food ingredients. Our new factory in ‘s-Hertogenbosch has a production capacity of 50,000 kg of peels per day. And we are proud of that. Together with about 45 other colleagues you pioneer, on the way to a sustainable and circular future.

You will work closely with the business team (Office Manager, Finance Controller, and Commercial Director) – as we don’t have departments in our organization – where you will have the freedom to take initiative and make an impact. The ingredients you’ll need.

• You have completed an MBO degree in food, such as MAS or equivalent.
• Experience in leading a five-shift team.
• Operational process experience within companies active in process technology and/or the food industry.
• You are stress-resistant, results-oriented, and a true team player.
• Strong sense of responsibility, proactive, and capable of taking full ownership.
• A great combination of being structured, action-oriented, and adaptable in the face of challenges.
• You know how to empower employees without taking over their tasks.
• You have a good command of the Dutch and/or English language, both spoken and written.
